The executive had spent a long period in the country and is replacing Pablo Di Si
Volkswagen confirmed this Tuesday, 9/13, the designation of Alexander Seitz as the new Executive Chairman of the company for the South America Region, operation headquartered in Brazil that includes 29 countries in Southern and Central America.
He is replacing Pablo Di Si, who became CEO of Volkswagen Group of America and Volkswagen North America Region at the beginning of the month.
German and business administrator, Seitz knows the region well and has already spent a long period in Brazil, where he worked for Mercedes-Benz for nearly five years after 1995. He joined Volkswagen AG in 2005 and, based in Wolfsburg, commanded the group’s Purchase area for engines and transmissions, among other responsibilities.
In 2008, he went to Brazil to be a member of the board of local Volkswagen, responsible for Purchases. Until August, he was taking care of Finances as a member of Volkswagen brand’s world board.
“Alexander Seitz has successfully led the Volkswagen brand in troubled scenarios over the last two and a half years and helped to position the company on a solid basis. With his experience of many years in the region, he is the right person to lead this important market and, jointly with Ciro Possobom in Brazil and Marcellus Puig in Argentina, will maintain the company’s victorious trajectory in these countries,” said Thomas Schaefer, Volkswagen Brand’s global CEO.
