The motorcycle manufacturers operating at the Manaus Industrial Pole maintain a highly positive performance this year. The production reached 145.8 thousand units last month, the best result in the year – the best August since 2013. The growth was 39.2% compared to July (104.8 thousand) and 18% in comparison to the same month in 2021 (123.7 thousand).

Released this Thursday, 9/15, by Abraciclo, the Brazilian motorcycle manufacturers association, the data show the production of 922 thousand units year-to-date, a 17% expansion compared to last year’s first eight months (787,810 units). This is the sector’s best performance since 2014 when 1,038,714 motorcycles were produced.

“The manufacturers keep operating as planned”, said Abraciclo’s president, Marcos Fermanian. “In August, we had a month full of production, which shall reflect on retail sales in September.

The executive commented that the Brazilian consumer has increasingly opted for motorcycles to escape traffic jams and high operation costs. “The expenses with a low-displacement model or a scooter are much lower than with any other transport mode”.

Despite the expressive growth over the last months, Abraciclo informs that it maintains a projection of 1,320,000 this year, representing a 10.5% growth compared to 2021, an index inferior to the registered year-to-date until August.
