Automobile and light commercial vehicle sales reacted in September. 181.6 thousand vehicles were negotiated last month, compared to 167 thousand in August. The daily average reached 8,647 units, compared to 7,952 in the previous month, an 8.8% evolution.
With 38.9 vehicles licensed, Fiat led the market once more. The Italian brand got 21.4% of the sales, five percentual points more than GM, second in the ranking, which sold 29.3 thousand vehicles, 16.1% of the total, and overcame Volkswagen, with 26.3 thousand units sold and a 14.5% share.
Hyundai got fourth place with 16.3 thousand units, a 9% share, followed closely by Toyota (15 thousand and 8.2%). Next went Renault (12.7 thousand, 7%) and Jeep (10.9%, 6%). Honda (3.4%) and Nissan (2.4%) occupied the eighth and ninth positions.
In 10th place, Citroën was the surprise in the ranking: with the arrival of the New C3 – the brand’s cheaper model – at the dealerships, Citroën sold 3.9 thousand vehicles in September, reaching 2.2% and overcoming its sister brand in Stellantis, Peugeot (1.7%).
Stellantis, with includes five brands, keeps leading the Brazilian market, with 31.7% of the cars licensed in September (57,5 thousand), also considering the figures from Fiat, Jeep and RAM) Over the initial nine months of 2022, the share is even larger, 32.8%, with 460.2 thousand of the more than 1.4 million vehicles sold.
Stellanti’s advantage over GM, second positioned, is brutal: 257 thousand licensed vehicles more, which already confirms that it will close the year as the internal market leader for the second time, in its second year of existence. Fiat alone sold 306.1 units in nine months, 21.8% of the total market.
