The truck market registered a 9.8% plunge in September, compared to August, with 11,091 and 12,297 vehicles registered, respectively. The sales, which were growing or being stable year-to-date, are indicating now a 1.8% setback considering the 92,016 units commercialized in the first nine months this year and 93,701 in the same period in 2021.

Releasing the segment’s data this Tuesday, 10/4, Fenabrave’s president, José Maurício Andreta Jr., attributed the negative performance in 2022 to the comparison with a high basis registered in 2021. “Daily sales were positive in September, and truck demand keeps firm”, he assured.

Andreta went even further, remembering that introducing the Euro 6 technology next January 1 shall cause a movement to anticipate purchases over the last quarter of the year.

According to Fenabrave’s data, truck prices shall rise from 20% to 25% with the launch of products meeting the new pollutant emission parameters. They are more advanced vehicles, with more onboard technology and, therefore, more expensive, inform the federation executives.

“Production is limited by the lack of semiconductors, but the market tendency is to absorb all that the manufacturers may deliver over the next months. It’s important to remember that the dealerships will be able to sell Euro 6 trucks produced this year until March 31, 2023.

Considering this scenario, Fenabrave maintains the projection to equal this year the volume of 2021, close to 127 thousand trucks. This will mean a reversion of the year-to-date results curve registered in September.
