The Japanese Toyota is leading a project supported by diverse Brazilian automotive sector companies and organizations to promote ethanol in other countries, especially developing nations, as an alternative to 100% electric cars on the way to decarbonization.
The manufacturer launched in India this Tuesday, 10/11, the pilot Hybrid Flex Technology with the presentation of the Toyota Corolla Altis Hybrid flex, produced in Indaiatuba, SP. Exported to India in July, the model was presented to Indian authorities at a specific event to divulge the Brazilian technology.
“This is our first step in that market to promote ethanol as an important carbon-neutral energy alternate, together with our advanced hybrid flex-fuel technology that can help the country to achieve a real self-sufficiency, contributing to the national zero-carbon objective up to 2070”, says the Toyota press note.
Launched by Toyota do Brasil in 2019, the hybrid technology using ethanol is one of the world’s cleanest, combining the high efficiency of the electric motor with the capacity of CO2 reabsorption of a 100% renewable fuel.
The Japanese manufacturer subsidiary united in April this year with the Brazilian Mission in India, which has the participation of local government leaders, Unica (Sugarcane Industry Union) and representatives of the national automotive and capital goods industry, aiming to create an integrated agenda to present alternates for emission reduction for India’s vehicular transportation, with an emphasis in biofuels and flex-fuel vehicles, used in Brazil for more than two decades.
