Counting on an increasing offer, electrified vehicle sales seem tending to overcome their numbers from now on. It happened last month, when close to 6.4 thousand hybrid and electric vehicles licensed marked the highest segment volume sold since 2012, when ABVE, the Brazilian Electric Vehicle Association, began to collect numbers crossing Anfavea and Fenabrave’s data.
September sales were 50.4% higher than in August, when the market bought 4.2 thousand units, and 131% over the same month last year when 2.7 thousand electrified automobiles and light commercial vehicles were sold.
From January through September, the segment had 34.2 thousand units commercialized, 41.7% more than last year (24.1 thousand units).
From the year’s total, 28 thousand were hybrid, a 23.4% increase, and 6.2 thousand electric vehicles, a more than 300% growth over the 1.4 thousand sold one year ago.
With the results up to September, hybrid and electric sales reached close to a 2.5% share in the 1.39 million units national automobile and light vehicles market.
According to ABVE data, Caoa Chery and Toyota dominated the sales ranking in September. The Tiggo 8 was the leader with little more than 1 thousand units, followed by the Corolla Cross (762 units), iCar (594), Corolla Altis (526) and Tiggo 7 (375).
