With 180 thousand units commercialized in Brazil since its arrival in 1997, the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter celebrates 25years in the market with a 30% share of the hotly disputed van market. The projection for this year is to reach sales from 9.3 to 9.5 thousand units, compared to 9.1 sold last year, an expansion of close to 4%.
To celebrate one-fourth of a century of its light commercial vehicle, Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans do Brasil promoted a press event in São Paulo this Tuesday, 10/25, with the participation of brand users, employees and dealers.
The production of the Sprinter line in the plant in Argentina was affected by logistic problems and the lack of chips this year, a reflex of the pandemic still hitting the automotive sector worldwide. Up to the last weekend, close to 6.9 thousand Sprinters were licensed in Brazil, a volume slightly under the same period last year.
“As all the industry, we had difficulties keeping the plant fully working”, said the president of Mercedes-Benz Cars and Vans do Brasil, Carlos Garcia. “But we are selling all we have available for the Brazilian market”.
The sales pace shall accelerate at the end of the year compared to the same period in 2021 when the supply shortage caused a strong offer reduction.
