The activity of the plants at Manaus Industrial Pole (PIM) registered a small fall of 1.6% in the production of motorcycles in October (137.3 thousand units) compared to September (139.6 thousand). Compared to the same month last year, when the industry produced 108.4 thousand motorcycles, there was a 26.6% increase.
According to the figures released by Abraciclo on Thursday, 11/10, October production was the third volume in the year, after August (145.8 thousand units) and September (139.6 thousand).
In the first ten months, the motorcycle industry produced nearly 1.2 million units, a 19.3% growth over the volume in the same period last year, 1 million units.
The projection of the segment’s association is to close the year with a nearly 19% increase in production, with 1.42 million motorcycles.
Marcos Fermanian, Abraciclo’s president, says the industry keeps expanding, especially because the motorcycle is increasingly seen as an affordable, agile and economical transport alternative.
“Besides, the motorcycle is used to work by those in delivery services and those willing to increase their income.”
October rental sales reached 120.2 thousand motorcycles, a volume 2.7% under September, with 123.6 registers, but 24% higher compared to the performance of the same month last year, 97 thousand units.
With last month’s sales, the registers up to October amounted to 1.10 million units, an 18% increase over last year’s volume, of 937.7 thousand motorcycles. According to Abraciclo, this is the best January through October result since 2014.
According to Fermanian, the sales maintain a positive trend with waiting lists until the end of the year, especially for low-displacement models and scooters, remembering that “we will have collective vacations in December, which shall reduce the production”.
If the plants and internal market activities keep growing, the same does not happen to exports. In October, little more than 4 thousand motorcycles were shipped abroad, a volume 30.1% under September (5.7 thousand) and 3.2% lower than last year’s shipments, 4.1 thousand units.
From January through October, the Manaus industry exported 47.7 thousand motorcycles, a slight 1.6% increase over the 46.9 thousand units shipped one year ago.
