The light vehicle market reacted in November. Sales of automobiles and light commercial vehicles added to almost 192.6 thousand units, 19% more than in October. The evolution over the same month last year, when 161.7 thousand vehicles were sold, was also impressive: 14%.
Nonetheless, the good monthly result wasn’t enough to revert the average fall registered over the year. In the first eleven months of 2022, the total sales reached 1,763.8 thousand vehicles, 1% less than in the same period of 2021.
Fiat sold 44.9 thousand units in November and led the market once again, with a 23.3% share. Its most close competitor last month was Volkswagen, but considerably behind with 29.9 thousand units, right ahead of GM, which sold 27 thousand Chevrolets.
From January through November, the Italian brand has already granted the position of the most negotiated brand in Brazil in 2022 – for the second consecutive year. With one more month of sales remaining, it has an advantage of no less than 130 thousand vehicles over GM: 388.5 thousand units sold against GM’s 258.9 thousand.
The percentual advantage is even more impressive: 22% over GM’s 14.7% and 13.5% of Volkswagen in third place. VW sold 237.9 thousand vehicles in the first eleven months of the year.
The difference over GM was even greater than the registered in 2020, when Fiat took the lead from the North American manufacturer.
