The executive Lívia Simões, who started her career at Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus 18 years ago as an intern, will become Human Resources vice-president on January 1, replacing Lineu Takayama, who will retire. She will be the first woman to be part of VWCO’s board and the youngest member of this select group ever.

“We thank Lineu Takayama for the years of commitment to our company, part of a long and extraordinary career in the automotive industry”, said the CEO Roberto Cortes, announcing the change last week. “We salute the arrival of Livia Simões into our Board, bringing new ideas and even more diversity for the future of Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus”.

Graduated in Production Engineering from the State University of Rio de Janeiro, Lívia, who is 40 years old, specializes in people management, leadership and project by schools such as ESMT Berlin, São Paulo University and Getúlio Vargas and Dom Cabral foundations.

Along her trajectory, she worked as an engineer heading diverse important projects, such as the brand’s new truck lineup strategic plan. She is currently the executive manager of the connectivity and digital solutions platform RIO and New VolksCare Services.

Takayama devoted almost five decades of his 66 years to the automotive sector. He started his career at Ford do Brasil at the plant of Taubaté, SP, and during the period of Autolatina, from 1987 through 1995, worked at Volkswagen do Brasil, returning to Ford when the joint venture ended. In 1999, he was hired by Volkswagen and, in 2005, joined the VWCO team. He was HR director from 2009 through 2016 when he took office as vice president and board member.
