It was the best November in nine years, with production reaching 1.33 million units in 2022

With 129,216 units produced in November, the motorcycle industry reached 1,328,105 units manufactured in the year, an 18.7% growth over the same eleven months in 2021 (1,118,790 units). It’s the best result since 2014 when the PIM (Manaus Industrial Pole) assembly lines produced 1,432,842 motorcycles.
The sector registered a 13.6% high in November compared to the same month last year, and, despite a fall of almost 5.9% compared to October, it was the best November in nine years. The data were released by Abraciclo, the Brazilian association of Motorcycle manufacturers.
Marcos Fermanian, president of the association, assures the production volume is according to the plan and the expectation of 1,420,000 produced this year shall be reached. “After a difficult first bimester, due to the Omicron cease, the plants recovered the assembly lines pace, and the production has increased to meet the market demand”, said him.
The executive believes in good perspectives for 2023. “Many Brazilians find in motorcycles an agile vehicle with low cost of maintenance and easier to purchase”, he ponders. He also said that the waiting lines for low-displacement motorcycles shall endure for the next months.
According to what Fenabrave had already released, 1,229,737 motorcycles were licensed year-to-date, 17.7% more than in the same period last year (1,044,413). The production was also the best since 2014 (1,301,981 units).
With 64,557 units and a 52.4% share, the Street led the ranking of the best-selling categories in November. In second came the Trail (23,312 units and 18.9% share).
Exports
Abraciclo associates exported 51,412 motorcycles up to November, 2.4% more than in the same period last year (50,193 units). The main destination was Colombia. According to data from the Comex Stat, the country received 14,854 units, 29% of the Brazilian exports. The second place was Argentina (12,098 units and 23.6% of the exports), followed by the United States (10,973 units and 21.4%).
