Automobile sales in the European Union had a 4.6% fall in 2022. From January through December, 9.25 million units were delivered, compared to 9.7 million in the previous year.
According to a report issued by Acea, the association of the region’s vehicle manufacturers, on Wednesday, 1/18, the performance was affected by the components shortage at the production lines. The sales volume was the smallest since 1993, when the EU market sold about 9.2 million units.
Nonetheless, in December, sales increased for the fifth consecutive month. 896.9 thousand automobiles were sold, 12.8% more than in the same month in 2021.
The Volkswagen Group, Stellantis and the Renault Group headed the region’s best-selling manufacturers list, with 25.1%, 19.7% and 10.6% shares.
