Sindipeças, the association of Brazilian auto parts manufacturers, updated the 2022 numbers and the 2023 forecast on its official website. Last year, the automotive components industry had a R$ 191 billion net revenue, 8.5% over 2021 (R$ 176.1 billion). The expectation for this year is to reach R$ 202.7 billion, with a close to 6.1% yearly growth.
This index is slightly higher than the previously presented, 5.5%, but the 2022 basis was reviewed, and the revenue was higher than estimated. Manufacturers should purchase 66.1% of the auto parts this year, more than the 65.1% in 2022. The replacement market also tends to have a higher share, from 18.4% to 19.4%.
Intersectional business should correspond to 4.5% of the auto parts industry businesses (4.2% in 2022), while exports should fall from 13.5% to 10.1%.
According to Sindipeças forecast, external sales will reach US$ 8.5 billion, a 6.3% growth, and imports will be close to US$ 17.5 billion, less 12.1%. Therefore, the commercial deficit will reduce by 24.4%, from US$ 11.9 billion to US$ 9 billion.
Another positive point refers to jobs in the sector. Last year there was a 4.2% growth to 277.7 thousand workers, and the association bets on a 0.5% growth to 279.1 thousand employees this year.
Anfavea, which represents the automotive manufacturers, also estimates a mild growth this year, from 2.2% in production and 3% in the internal market. Fenabrave, the dealers association, believes the sales will remain stable.
According to the last projections, the investments will be slightly smaller in 2023, about US$ 1.1 billion (US$ 1.3 billion in 2022).
The association had already explained that 2022 numbers involved the change from Euro 5 to Euro 6 technology in locally produced trucks. 2021 investments were US$ 1.14 billion, close to the estimate for this year.
