Heavy vehicles stand out in consortium sales

New quotas' sales expanded by 65.8% in 2022, overcoming 302 thousand, while business reached R$ 41,8 billion

With positive numbers, the vehicle consortium system has good reasons to celebrate the 2022 balance. Adherence advanced by 9.4% with the sale of more than 3 million new quotas, and business advanced by 12% to almost R$ 144 billion in commercialized credits.

Of 7.49 million active automotive vehicles consortium members, 56.5% want to buy a car or a light commercial vehicle, 34.8% want a motorcycle and 8.7% a heavy vehicle. The last segment is the smaller, but it is the one with better results.

Trucks, tractors, road and agricultural implements consortiums had significant growth, according to the balance released by Abac, the Brazilian consortium administrators companies association. Sales of new quotas in this segment expanded by 65.8%, from 182.6 thousand in 2021 to 302.7 thousand in 2022.

The number of partners grew 41.7% to 655 thousand, and the volume of commercialized credits grew 6.7% to R$ 41.8 billion.

A peculiar data regarding heavy vehicles is the 41.1% reduction of the average ticket – from R$ 272.7 thousand to R$ 160.6 thousand. According to Abac, it is a reflex of the purchase of smaller-value quotas, which reduced the granted credits volume to R$ 49.2 billion.

The more than 43 thousand contemplated quotas referring to trucks corresponded to the potential purchase of 34.3% of the segment in the internal market, which had 124.46 thousand units sold, according to data from Fenabrave. Therefore, one in three trucks licensed in the country in the period was bought through a consortium.

More than 1.5 million new quotas were sold in the light vehicle segment, and more than R$ 80 billion was commercialized. Active participants grew by 6.3%, the average ticket by 14.2%, and granted credits by 8.8%. The average ticket reached R$ 50 thousand.

In the two-wheel market, all indicators improved. New quotas sales grew 8.9% over 2021, with a monthly average of 101.8 adherences, compared to 93.68 thousand in the previous year. The average ticket grew by 18.9%, overcoming R$ 18 thousand.

The more than 670 thousand contemplated quotas last year corresponded to the potential purchase of 49.5% of the segment in the internal market, which had 1.36 million units sold, according to data from Fenabrave. It corresponded to half of the motorcycles commercialized in the country.
