Ford doubles Mustang Mach-E production in Mexico

The model will come to Brazil this year

Ford intends to double and even triple the production of some models this year, not only to meet the demands of the North American market, where its gaining share, but also buyers from other regions and countries such as Brazil.

Without disclosing investments, the company revealed just the models that will have the offer extended, among them the electrics Mustang Mach-E, F-150 Lightning and E-Transit, and the conventional Bronco Sport, Maverick and Transit.

The plant of Cuautitlán, in Mexico, responsible for producing the Mustang Mach-E, should almost double its hourly production to reach 210 thousand units per year thanks to internal production line changes. Currently sold in 37 countries, the model will be launched in Brazil this year.

“We had a strong sales start in 2023, and we are moving to accelerate production focusing on quality”, said Kumar Galhotra, president of Ford Blue, the brand’s combustion engine vehicles division. “The production increase is good both for our customers and our business”.

According to a note released this Monday, 3/13, Ford expanded its sales in the United States by 21.9% in February, taking the top of the ranking of the bestselling automobile brands in the region. It also led the pickups, vans and SUVs segments and advanced by 68% in electric vehicles, obtaining a 1.4% increase in its participation in this market, reaching 13.3%.

The Mustang Mach-E, which has attracted other brands’ buyers, had an important participation in this growth. Still talking about electrics, the F-150 Lightning pickup will have its production tripled this year to 150 thousand units at the Rouge Electric Vehicle Center in Michigan.

“The Bronco Sport and Maverick are other models that will have the production increased this year, with additional 80 thousand units for North and South American customers”, informed the company. “The gas engine F-150, just launched in Brazil, also will gain volume at the Dearborn plant to strengthen Series F’s 46 years lead in pickups in the continent”.
