With 121,403 units produced last month, the motorcycle industry totaled 244,320 in the bimester, expanding the offer by an expressive 28.1% compared to last year. Abraciclo’s data released this Monday, 3/13, show a slight 1.2% decrease last month compared to January but a 13.4% growth over the second month of 2022 (107,046).
“We are gradually balancing offer with consumer demand”, commented Marcos Fermanian, the organization’s president. “The segment should maintain the ascending trend in the next months, as motorcycles are a fast and economical transportation option and can be used as a working tool in delivery services or for those who want to increase revenue.
According to the executive, the purchase of low-displacement models grew by 42.5% in one year, while the high-displacement models – used mostly for leisure – increased by 11.5%. “Despite fewer working days due to the Carnival holiday, all manufacturing units operated normally in February and accelerated the production pace”, said Fermanian.
February’s production was the best for the month since 2014, when 140,259 units were assembled at the Manaus Industrial Pole, AM, and the first bimester had the best result for the period in ten years (286,816 motorcycles).
Abraciclo’s projection for 2023 is 1,550,000 motorcycles manufactured in Brazil, which would be a 9.7% growth from last year (1,413,222 units).
