The Ford Transit lineup now includes automatic transmission options. The new versions can already be found in the brand’s dealers, with prices starting at R$ 298,200 for the glazed minibus or R$$274,500 for the cargo van.

At the new models’ presentation, the manufacturer’s executives said the offer of automatic transmission in vans is a pioneer in Brazil. Without disclosing the sales estimate and the expected mix of automatic and manual transmissions, Ford’s vice president for South America, Rogelio Golfarb, told the objective of the new lineup is gaining space in the segment and the Brazilian market.

According to Guillermo Lastra, Ford South America’s commercial vehicle director, the company aims to offer commercial customers’ business maximum performance, economy and productivity:

“The new ten-speed automatic transmission provides a more efficient and comfortable drive, reducing operational costs. As it doesn’t require clutch kit replacements, it demands less service stop and reduces by about 70% the transmission system maintenance cost”.

According to the executive, the automatic Transit arrives with the same price range as its main competitor with manual transmission.

The range includes glazed minibus versions for 15 or 18 passengers and the high roof long cargo van with 12.4 m³ capacity. With this new lineup, manufactured in Uruguay, the company also presented the Ford Pro, a new service structure created to assist exclusively commercial customers.

The Ford Pro also assists the Ranger pickup customers and, in the future, will assist the owners of the Transit Chassis, which will arrive in the second half of the year, and the full-electric E-Transit van.

Ford currently operates in Brazil selling exclusively imported products and investing in specific niches, which main area is light commercial vehicles.
