Contrary to last year’s performance, marked by continuous importation growth, over the first bimester of this year autoparts purchases abroad amounted to US$ 2.92 billion, a slight 0.7% fall from last year’s US$ 2.94 billion.
Imports reached US$ 1.37 billion in February, 6.4% less than in January (US$ 1.47 billion) and 11.3% less than in the same month in 2022 (US$ 1.55 billion). Exports were lower in value but showed an inverse movement regarding imports at the beginning of the year.
Sales abroad reached US$ 771.9 million last month, 28% more than in the previous year (US$ 602.9 million) and 32.6% more than in January (US$ 581.9 million). In the first bimester, autoparts exports reached US$ 1.4 billion, a 26.3% high over the same period in 2022.
