Bosch wants to grow by 13% in the Brazilian replacement market in 2023

It should be the third consecutive year of growth

Despite market and vehicle manufacture instability in Brazil and the region in the last years, Bosch’s Aftermarket division seems to have nothing to complain about. According to Delfim Calixto, responsible for Bosch’s autoparts market in Latin America, 2023 should be the company’s third consecutive year of growth.

“Our sales in Latin America (except Mexico, which is part of North America operations) shall grow by 17% in 2023, says the executive, remembering the impressive 32% jump in 2022 over 2021.

In Brazil, where sales are almost half of the region’s business, the estimated growth in 2023 should be slightly lower, about 13%. But it is based on an equally growing basis that has evolved by more than 20% a year since 2020.

The executive believes that, in great part, the results were due to the company’s capacity to manage the logistic difficulties and the lack of raw materials and components caused by the pandemic, including a transport and distribution costs explosion. Close to 60% of what the operation commanded by Calixto sells in Lati America’s markets comes from imported lines imported from other continents, and the remaining 40% are exported by Brazil.

The scenario improved, but not all problems were solved. Logistics and high costs will keep as great challenges this year, said Calixto at the opening of Automec in São Paulo this Tuesday, 4/25.

“The global supply chain is going through what we are used to in Brazil and Latin America”, he joked, adding that high inflation business profile and technology changes and geopolitical conflicts.

New structure and name

Those used to call the giant German group Robert Bosch or just Bosch should prepare for a change. From 2024, the company will have a new global name: Bosch Mobility Company. The change, explains Calixto, reflects the new group’s vision of all its activities to offer integrated mobility products and services.

Even the Aftermarket division will be called Mobility Aftermarket. “We will not talk about the replacement market, but about how we will provide the mechanic, the repairmen, the best and most agile solution for their problems.”

The future Bosch Mobility will concentrate its operations on five business units: Energy, including electric motors, combustion engines, batteries and fuel cells; ADAS, for driving assistance systems; Vehicle Dynamics, for driving and safety systems; Body and Comfort, for onboard technology and equipment; and Infotainment, operation systems and multimedia centrals.
