The commercial vehicle market in Europe keeps in a recovery trend. Despite the low basis of comparison, caused by the components shortage and the consequent product offer crisis, the first quarter registered a 10.9% growth in the region with 566.9 thousand units sold (510.9 thousand last year).

According to data from Acea, the region vehicle manufacturers association, which cover markets from the European Union, United Kingdom and EFTA countries, the up to 3.5 tons segment, with 85% of the total sales, has pushed the expansion along the trimester.
In the first three months this year, the market purchased 456.2 vans, 9.2% more than one year ago.

In this segment, the European transporters still favor diesel engines, which were 85.7% of the period sales, while 100% electric versions got a 6.6% share, a 2.1% increase in the same comparison period.

Sales of trucks over 3.5 tons added to slightly more than 102 thousand units, growing by 19.4%. 87.1 thousand of this total were over 16-ton heavy trucks, a 19.1% increase, and 14.8 thousand models from 3.5 through 16 tons, a 25.1% increase.

Bus deliveries increased by 10%, with 8.6 thousand units sold in the first three months. Acea stressed the electrics share growth in the segment. In last year’s first quarter, they were 14.5% of the sales, while this year, the share was 16.8% with 1.45 thousand buses, 31% more.
