“We will keep investing in Brazil no matter the difficulties”, asserted Ricardo Alouche, Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus sales, marketing and services vice president at the presentation of the brand’s products at the Agrishow, in Ribeirão Preto, SP.
Following the sale line of the speech made by Iveco’s president in Brazil, Márcio Querichelli, the VWCO’s representative talked about the current problems, mentioning difficulties to obtain credit, high default indexes, truck price increases due to the Euro 6 technology and the change of government, “which demands a time to accommodate the strategy”.
Nonetheless, he said to believe the government will take short-term measures, such as launching alternate credit lines by the BNDES and consolidating the Renovar, a program to renew the heavy trucks fleet. “It doesn’t lack much for the program to come into effect”, he said. Admitting the market downturn in the first quarter, Alouche said this is the moment for Euro 6 to takeoff:
“We started the year impaired and are now going through an adjustment phase. I believe sales will recover in the third trimester, growing in the second semester”.
Despite this view, the executive works with the same index as Anfavea, previewing an 11% truck sales fall in the year. VWCO is presenting at the Agrishow the prototype of the Constellation 31.280 autonomous (level 2), which should cost R$ 1.2 million to R$ 1.5 million.
“It is not exclusive for sugarcane. It can be used in other cultures, as soy”, told Alouche. “We keep investing because we believe in the country. We have more than 30 models in four lines, including buses. The agribusiness is Brazil’s motor and, if the segment’s GDP increases by 10%, sales of trucks for the sector will have a similar growth.”
Among the fair’s attractions, VWCO shows the Delivery 11.180 4×4, the Constellation 32.380 and 33.480 and the new Meteor.
