The SUV segment, which keeps dominating the Brazilian automotive market, remains the most competitive. In May, the Volkswagen T-Cross led the category with 6.012 units licensed, overcoming the Jeep Compass (5.560 units).
Nevertheless, the American brand’s model remained at the first position year-to-date with 26,012 deliveries. With 25,352 units licensed, the T-Cross is third in 2023, also behind the Hyundai Creta (25,352), according to data released last week by Fenabrave, the Brazilian dealers’ association.
It’s a fierce war: between the fourth place, Chevrolet Tracker, and the first, the share difference is less than one percentage point – exactly 0.71%.
The fifth and sixth bestseller SUVs in the first five months of the year were the Nissan Kicks (6.61%) and Jeep Renegade (6.48%). In sequence are the Toyota Corolla Cross (6.44%), VW Nivus (6.09%) and Fiat Pulse (6.0%.
Among the brands, Jeep is the SUV’s sales leader. From January through May, it sold 53,554 units, a 19.1% share. Besides the Compass and Renegade, the Stellantis’s Group brand also has the Commander, with 1,956 deliveries last month and 9,117 in the year.
