While the credit line liberation for brand new automobiles purchase with discounts expands, the same incentive for trucks has been stuck since the first balance, released by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Development on 13/6.
Just R$ 100 million of the R$ 700 million approved for truck purchases – 14% of the total – were already used. Regarding buses, the index reached 43%, but the liberation of R$ 130 million of the R$ 300 million available did not change last week.
The discount program for heavy vehicles aims to promote a fleet renovation and, therefore, to be benefited the purchaser must deliver a more than 20 years old truck or bus to the dealer to be recycled.
But the big transport companies no longer own 20 years old vehicles, and those who usually have this kind of truck or bus are autonomous drivers that can’t afford a new one, even with the discounts.
Thirteen bus manufacturers entered the program: Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Ford, Volkswagen, Volvo, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans, Comil, Ciferal, Marcopolo, Volare, Iveco and Caio. The truck manufacturers enrolled are Volkswagen Truck, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Fiat Chrysler, Peugeot Citroen, Volvo, Ford, Iveco, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans and Daf Caminhões.
Discounts for heavy vehicles vary between R% 33.6 thousand to R$ 99.4 thousand, depending on cargo or passenger capacity.
When the program was launched on June 6, Anfavea’s prevision was that the amount directed to automobiles should last only one month but did not mention what was expected regarding the package for heavy vehicles. The truck’s average cost is currently about R$ 700 thousand, meaning the R$ 700 million credit could enable the change of one thousand used vehicles for new units.
The program for heavy vehicles aims to recover the segment sales, hit by the change from Euro 5 to Euro 6 emissions technology that, according to the Ministry, raised the prices between 15% and 30%.
