The incentive package to the automotive sector previews R$ 1.5 billion in credits – R$ 500 million for automobiles and light commercial vehicles, R$ 300 million for passenger vehicles and R$ 700 million for cargo transportation.
From June 6 until now, the government liberated R$ 400 million for the light segment, R$ 140 million for buses and vans and only R$ 100 million for trucks.
Stellantis tops the list of benefitted companies released by the MDIC, divided into two blocks: FCA Fiat Chrysler Automóveis Brasil, which also includes the brand Jeep, and Peugeot Citroën do Brasil. Together, the Stellantis brands already asked for R$ 240 million (R$ 190 million and R$ 40 million).
Volkswagen had R$ 60 million in tax credits authorized, as Hyundai and Renault can use each R$ 40 million.
With R$ 20 million each came Ford, General Motors, Mercedes-Benz Cars & Vans, Mercedes-Benz do Brasil, Iveco and Scania. The authorized credit for the last four brands is for automobiles, vans, buses and trucks.
The liberation of credits by the government does not mean that the total amount has already been used in retail sales. The manufacturers can ask for additional credit as new sales are made for final consumers.
