With a recently deal cut with the Dutch importer Van Vliet, VWCO – Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus – will begin to supply new African markets, including Benin and Togo. A brand dealership will be opened in Togo in this year’s second half to assist the region’s customers.
The deal previews keeping a truck stock in Amsterdam, Holland, to supply diverse West African regions. About 50 Delivery and Constellation trucks are already with Van Vliet, which also commercializes road implements such as dump, box and dry freight truck bodies. The company also has a workshop to customize trucks on demand.
“Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus wants to expand its international presence. This strategy includes expanding its operations in four continents: South America, Mexico and Central America, Africa and the Middle East. With support from importers such as Van Vliet, we surely will obtain more positive results in new markets”, said Leonardo Soloaga, VWCO’s International Sales president.
VWCO also wants to achieve the lead in countries where it already actuates. Besides plants in Brazil and Mexico, it maintains production partnerships in South Africa and the Philippines and has exported over 175 thousand trucks and buses throughout its history.
