GWM will bring from China yet this year a hydrogen fuel cell truck for testing in Brazil. The information was released by the company’s commercial director in Brazil, Oswaldo Ramos, during the Electric Days 2023, a global electric mobility event held this week in São Paulo.

“The idea is to use the hydrogen cell truck for round trips with two 200 km legs, totaling 400 km. There is already a structure for this kind of use”, explained the executive, which revealed that the first unit should arrive in the second semester and two others next year. “There is no point in having projects for hydrogen in the country if there is no truck to test”, he completed.

Great Wall Motors has a subsidiary focused on hydrogen mobility technologies, FTXT Energy Technology, which produces hydrogen fuel cell-driven trucks in China.

In April this year, the Brazilian subsidiary, which will produce flex-fuel hybrids in Brazil at the Iracemápolis plant in São Paulo, previously owned by Mercedes-Benz, signed a partnership agreement with the government of the State of São Paulo to develop hydrogen production technologies to be used in hydrogen-driven vehicles.

The Chinese company aims to produce hydrogen from ethanol and create a route for hydrogen-driven vehicles in São Paulo with refueling points at both ends. The project is supported by São Paulo’s Investments and Competitiveness Promotion Agency (InvestSP).

Haval H6

After his speech at the Electric Days event, Oswaldo Ramos commented on the sales of the Haval H6 SUV in Brazil.

He informed that by the end of this month, the company should reach 2.7 units commercialized and that three thousand more are on the way to supply the Brazilian market beginning in July.

“Our official launch will be on this Tuesday, 6/27”, he said, explaining that the actions so far promoted were to present the brand and the model’s presale operation. Among the GWM plug-in model’s differentials, he highlights the up to 170 km pure electric autonomy, almost three times higher than its main competitors’ range.
