Since July 1, the engines used by Renault in Brazil are manufactured by Horse. Renault cars’ engines are now branded Horse, the name of the new global company created with the new manufacturer’s production and technical structural change as an independent company.

From now on, Horse will develop, produce and supply low-emission combustion engines and hybrid units for Renault Group’s diverse operations – Renault and Dacia – the world partners Nissan and Mitsubishi Motors and even other vehicle manufacturers.

The company also could supply transmissions, hybrid systems (xHEV) and batteries.

“By 2040, vehicles with combustion engines and hybrids will still be more than 50% of the world’s sales. Horse should lead this market with its technical expertise and the best low-emission solutions in its segments”, asserts Patrice Haettel, Horse’s CEO.

Headquartered in Madrid, Spain, the new company has eight engine and transmission plants in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Spain, Portugal, Romania and Turkey, and three development centers. This global complex can manufacture up to 3.2 million engines yearly.

In the next few weeks, this potential will be much expanded with Horse’s joint venture with Aurobay, the Chinese Geely and Volvo Cars engine arm, announced at the end of last year.

Horse and Aurobay 22 plants will have the capacity to produce more than five million engines and transmission systems yearly and an estimated revenue of over 15 billion euros.

The workforce will have 19 thousand workers, nine thousand from Horse. In Brazil, 700 employees work at the Ayrton Senna industrial complex in São José dos Pinhais, PR. The building already has the Horse logo at the front.

“The new joint venture aims to include new partners and shareholders interested in participating in the work on low-low emission engines. Geely’s and Renault Group’s combined portfolio would allow to offer solutions for 80% of the internal combustion engines market”.
