An important reinforcement for BMW’s electrification strategy in Brazil arrived at the brand’s dealers: the fully electric X1 version. Imported from Germany, the iX1 costs from R$ 422 thousand and is now the German brand’s cheaper electric model in the country.

According to the manufacturer, the iX1 is very similar to the X1 M Sport, the combustion-engine version top of the line. The most perceivable difference is just the “i” at the rear logo.

Inside, everything is the same as the sporty combustion-engine X1. The curved screen panel comprises the 10.25″ instrument cluster and the 10.7″ multimedia screen.

The great difference between the two versions is the drive train. The iX1 is driven by two electric motors, one at each axle. Together they deliver to the four wheels 230kW/313cv and 494 Nm and take the SUV to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds.

Under the floor is a 66,5 kWh battery that, according to Inmetro’s Brazilian Vehicle Labeling Program, ensures autonomy of up to 303 kilometers.

BMW says 6h30m is needed to fully charge the battery in an 11 kW BMW Wallbox. To recharge at home or in travels, the car has two chargers: a portable one with up to 11 kW and a 22 Kw BMW Wallbox.

Connectivity stands out with the BMW ConnectedDrive platform, which provides services such as emergency calls, maintenance alerts by telemetry, navigation with real-time traffic information, news and weather channels and applications.

There are also remote services that can be activated through the My BMW app, such as locking and unlocking doors, and horn, climatize, localize the vehicle and send destinations to the navigation system.

The drive assistance systems include Parking Assistant Plus and Driving Assistant Plus (smart driving assistant for slow traffic situations or long stretches that informs the driver through visual and sound alerts, involuntary lane changing, and control and prevention of frontal approximation, among other functions.

The SUV also carries Head-Up Display, panoramic sunroof, wireless smartphone charger and other comfort items.
