The first edition of the Clean Mobility Award, dedicated t electrified vehicles sold in the Brazilian market, had eight different winner brands in its eight categories. The prize is an initiative of Agência Autoinforme to contribute to encouraging clean mobility technologies use in Brazil.
The 2023 winners were selected among 75 passenger cars, SUVs, and light utility vehicles commercialized in the internal market in 2022 that use one of the four technologies available in the country: BEV – 100% electric, HEV – hybrid, MHEV – mild hybrid and PHEV — Plug-in hybrid.
The eight categories consider the technologies used and public suggested prices – above or below R$ 500 thousand.
“The definition of the winner in each category were considered engine/energy efficiency, equipment and automation systems, battery/range and opportunity/market adequation”, explained journalist Joel Leite, Autoinforme’s director.
The prize jury included the journalists Benê Gomes (UOL Carros), Cacá Clauset (TSO), George Guimarães (AutoIndústria), Leandro Alves (Autodata), Marcos Rozen (Use Elétrico), Pedro Kutney (Autodata), environmentalists Dal Marcondes and Mário Mantovani, and the automotive engineers Gustavo Noronha and Ricardo Takahira, both from AEA – Associação Brasileira de Engenharia Automotiva.
The Renault Kwid won in the “Electric up to R$ 500 thousand” category, which has the potential to become the most competitive in the second edition of the award with the arrival of diverse competitors in the next few months. Two of them, the BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora, will be at the dealers in the next weeks.
Two cars manufactured in Brazil won in their categories: Tiggo 8 (plug-hybrid hybrid up to R$ 500 thousand), made by Caoa Chery in Anápolis, GO, and Corolla Cross (hybrid up to R$ 500 thousand) made by Toyota in Sorocaba, SP.
