The Ora 03 pre-sale is already open. GWM’s hatch is the newest competitor in the electric entry vehicle segment, which already has at least four other cars. To become the owner of the battery electric model, the consumer must pay R$ 9 thousand in advance and wait until December to receive it.
Imported from China, the Ora 03 is offered in two versions without extra options. The most affordable, Skin, costs R% 150 thousand, and the upper one, GT, sells for R$ 184 thousand. A third option for the launch is the special series Copacabana, limited to 200 units, which will cost the same as the Skin or R$ 160 thousand if equipped with a panoramic roof.
Nonetheless, GWM’s commercial director Oswaldo Ramos says the first batch of the Ora 03 will be offered initially to the brand’s vehicle owners who manifested interest in the compact even without knowing the price, technical characteristics or standard features – a 300-people estimated universe.
Ramos does not disclose the sales expectation but says the company aims to close 2023 with one of its vehicles as Brazil’s bestselling car and that the Ora 03 has all the conditions to become the brand’s third national model. GWM has already confirmed the Poer pickup and Haval SUV manufacture beginning in Iracemápolis, SP, in May next year.
“With flexible production and agility for exports from China, we will be ready to meet the demand”, asserted the executive, who does not dare to say which of the versions he expects to be more negotiated.
Pre-sales orders will help the company calculate the first orders to the Chinese plant. The brand sees the young public as Ora 03’s main customers and should limit its publicity almost exclusively to social media.
Style, size and connectivity should please the youngest consumers. GWM offers the possibility to customize the interior with combinations of vivid colors on the seats, doors and even the dashboard.
Versions and prices
Ora 03 Skin – R$ 150 thousand
Ora 03 GT – R$ 184 thousand
The model also calls attention to the standard safety, driving assistance and comfort features. Besides external details – more sporty in the GT, such as the wheels – the two versions differ only in the panoramic sunroof and the Full Parking Assist package for autonomous parking, both present in the top-of-line version.
The driving assistance package, including adaptative cruise control, emergency braking, lane keeping alert, blind spot sensor and 360° camera, as well as leather seats and the alcantara-upholstered dashboard are standard since the entry version that also has a digital instrument cluster and electric-adjustable seats.
Seven airbags – one between the front seats – helped the model receive five stars in the Euro NCAP 2022 test.
With a 171 cv motor, the Ora 03 reaches 100 km/h in 8.2 seconds, according to the manufacturer. With a 63 kWh battery, the GT version can ride up to 400 km, while the Skin, with a 48 kWh battery, can reach 310 km.
Both versions can be charged from 10% to 80% from three to five hours with alternating current chargers or 30 to 40 minutes with continuous current (DC).
