The Sindipeças website updated its conjuncture report showing a 4% increase in the autoparts industry nominal earnings from January through June over last year. The positive performance is mainly due to the aftermarket results, which grew by 22.2%.
Sales for manufacturers were almost unchanged, with a 0.6% increase. Exports, including dollar and real registers, increased by 5.8% in the first half.
Intra-sector sales, mainly parts sales to components manufacturers, fell by 6.4%. Production capacity use in June reached 71%, one point under May. The sector’s employment level has grown by 3.8% in the first semester.
There was a fall in June compared to May in the main distribution channels: 11.7% in sales to manufacturers, 6.2% in exports (dollars) and 2.6% in sales for the aftermarket.
The numbers reflect fewer business days in June, but regarding vehicle manufacturers, it should be taken into account the expectations for the announcement of the federal government incentives program that motivated a sales expansion in May of about 27.4%.
