Ford begins to sell Territory’s new version in September. Completely new, the sport-utility has global ambitions and, according to the brand, would arrive simultaneously in 60 countries. According to Ford, the model was developed by its global product centers with the participation of South America’s engineering.
In Brazil, the new Territory will be sold in a single version, the Titan. The suggested price should be R$ 209.990, R$ 10 thousand less than the first generation, launched in 2020, which never disputed the first positions in the segment, historically led by the Jeep Compass.
According to Fenabrave, from January through July, Ford sold only 634 units of the Chinese SUV in the country. Last year, it reached 978, less than half the 2.2 thousand sold in 2021.
Including sales from 2020, about 5.5 thousand units of the model circulate in the country. To compare, in the first seven months of 2023, Jeep sold 35 thousand units of the Compass.
Territory’s full refurbishment is Ford’s hope to achieve more significant sales. The second generation does not resemble the previous. Nor in style and internal and external dimensions.
Even the engine under the hood is new: a 196 cv 1.5 turbo coupled to a seven-speed automatic transmission. The model is front-wheel driven and has four driving modes: Normal, Eco, Mountain and Sport.
According to the manufacturer, the Territory reaches 100 km/h in 10.3 seconds, and the maximum speed is limited to 180 km/h. Equipped with start-stop system, consumption reaches 9.5 km/l in the city and up to 11.8 km/l on highway.
The SUV has a standard 12.3″ digital instrument panel, panoramic sunroof, digital air-conditioned, electrically adjustable ventilated leather seats, 360° camera, automatic high-beam headlights, 12.3″ multimedia central and induction phone charger.
Safety features include autonomous braking system with pedestrian detection, stop&go adaptive cruise control, blind spot sensor, lane detection assistant, parking assistant and sensors and six airbags.
