After leading automobile sales for three consecutive months, the VW Polo fell to third place in August, the same position it has year-to-date. Fiat Strada keeps the lead in 2023, while Chevrolet Onix and Polo fiercely dispute the second place.
The difference between the two rival models is almost negligible both in the month and the year. General Motors’ hatch had 8,345 units in August, versus 8,220 of VW’s. Both achieved a 4.2% share of the light vehicle market last month.
The situation is the same year-to-date: 62,716 and 62,413 units each and a 4.6% share for both. Leader in August and the year, the Strada seems unlikely to lose the position this year. It sold 12,872 units last month, a 6.5% share.
In eight months, 73,805 units were sold, 5.5%, almost one percent more than the two closest competitors.
The Top 10 list in August also includes the Hyundai HB20, Onix Plus, Fiat Mobi, Chevrolet Tracker, Fiat Argo, Honda HRV and VW T-Cross.
