As Chinese vehicles grow, pushed especially by electric and hybrids, parts purchased from the Asian country are down. US$ 1.72 billion was imported from China from January through July, 5% less than last year (U$ 1.8 billion).
The figures were released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services and consolidated by Sindipeças, which has updated this year’s commercial balance on its website.
China remains Brazil’s main autoparts supplier, followed by the United States, Germany and Japan. In the last case, there also was a decrease of 7.6%. Japan imported US$ 948 million in autoparts this year versus slightly more than US$ 1 billion in the first seven months of 2022.
Autoparts imports fell by 2% this year, from US$ 11.38 billion to US$ 11.15 billion in the same period of 2022.
On the other hand, exports – to 194 countries – grew by 18.6%, from US$ 4.5 billion to US$ 5.3 billion. The autoparts commercial deficit fell by 15.5% from almost US$ 6.9 billion to US$ 5.8 billion through July.
Brazilian parts’ main purchasers are Argentina, with an expressive 36.4% share, the United States and Mexico. To the neighboring country, US$ 1.95 billion were shipped in seven months, 20.6% more than in the same period last year.
The United States purchased US$ 818.4 million in Brazilian autoparts, a 13% expansion, and Mexico, US$ 517.1 million, a 9.7% increase.
