BorgWarner announced the development of a turbocompressor for a national hybrid passenger car to be launched in 2025/2026.

BorgWarner supplies about 50% of the turbocompressors used in automobiles in Brazil. The company assures that these components made in its plant in Itatiba, SP, carry the same technology used in European hybrids.

In South America, the B01 series turbochargers are present in vehicles such as the Volkswagen Up!, Polo TSI, Nivus, Virtus and T-Cross 200TSI, and Stellantis’s Jeep Compass and Renegade and Fiat Toro, Pulse and Fastback.

“We are constantly in touch with other BorgWarner plants and already have identified the trends in Europe regarding drive systems and cycle differentiation and what it can benefit our region”, said Wilson Lentini, general director of BorgWarner Emissions, Thermal and Turbo Systems in Brazil.

The executive stresses that the Itatiba plant is ready to fulfill the demands of manufacturers operating in Brazil “with all the expertise of our local engineering in development for small and flex-fuel engines.

The largest turbo manufacturer in Latin America, BorgWarner produces 500 thousand turbocompressors yearly.
