Although the autoparts industry exports keep growing, purchases from abroad still account for more than twice this year’s shipments. US$ 6.2 billion were exported from January through August, while imports amounted to US$ 12.9 billion.
Autoparts exports increased 16.7%, as in 2022 US$ 5.3 billion were sold to other countries in the same period.
On the other side, imports fell 2.6% from US$ 13.3 billion to US$ 12.9 billion, according to Sindipeças.
In August, with external sales amounting to US$ 870.1 million, the sector had its second-best performance in the year. There was a 6.5% expansion over July and the same month last year.
Imports, totaling US$ 1.76 billion, had a 6.1% retraction from August 2022 and an 11.6% high over the previous month.
The autoparts industry commercial balance deficit this year amounts to U$ 6.7 billion, “a 15.6% fall from the deficit in the same period last year”, said Sindipeças’ report.
