For the first time, next week, Brazil will receive Orca’s (Organização Internacional dos Construtores de Autoveículos) annual meeting, gathering industry executives from all continents to debate the sector’s global trends and challenges.

According to Anfavea, the selection of Brazil to host this year’s meeting shows other countries’ awareness of Brazilian decarbonization solutions: “It shows the country’s industry and our energy solutions’ protagonism”.

The meeting to be held on October 26 and 27 at the JW Marriott hotel in São Paulo will gather the presidents of 36 organizations similar to Anfavea.

The information that OICA’s annual meeting would happen this year in São Paulo was announced in June by Anfavea’s president, Márcio de Lima Leite, during a seminar about the future of electrification in Brazil held in Brasília.

OICA’s president, John Bozzela, participated online in the event opening. He talked about ongoing decarbonization actions worldwide, emphasizing that the important is reaching a clean future, no matter the ways to get there: “We don’t think all countries should adopt the same technology. There are different ways to take, involving specific policies by region or by country, according to local characteristics”.

OICA’s president said in the seminary that global cooperation involving industry and governments is fundamental to disseminating the best practices benefitting the environment worldwide.

Besides gathering the sector’s global statistics, OICA works for technical development in different areas, “aiming the global harmonization of environmental and safety standards to benefit all countries”, according to the organization’s website.
