The department will gain more space to assist new markets of the brand's logistic net

Scania announced a R$ 65.7 million investment in its logistic parts dsitribution center in Vinhedo, SP. The resources will allow to expand the storage area by 50% from 15 thousand square meters to 22 thousand square meters and assist new markets. The resources add to the R$ 1.4 billion investments programmed for the period from 2021 through 2024.
“This investment prepare us for the future. With higher volumes, new markets appear”, said Paulo Moraes, Scania’s sales and marketing vice president for Latin America. “The expansion will enable more operational flow efficiency to ensure the vehicle availability for the customer amid the permanent challenge to balance costs, deadlines and CO2 emissions.”
Part of Scania’s global parts distribution net, which has four distribution centers and the logistcs headquarters in Belgium, the LPC works for 30 Latin American countries. In Brazil, the manufacturer’s larger regional market, the Vinhedo center supplies 180 points and receives deliveries from more than 200 suppliers.
More than 42 thousand parts are distributed or stored daily. On average, the center makes about 20 dispatches daily, with 5.5 parts lines billed adding to more than one ton monthly. It currently has 60 thousand allocations for more than 40 thousand items. With the expansion, Scania previews a processes and capacity evolution in the same proportion of the area increase, scheduled to be concluded in 2025.
“We have 97% of parts available, while the dealer net has about 93%. On average, the component that may occasionally lack is delivered in 2.5 days anywhere i the country”, says Ademir Egídio, LPC’s executive manager.
The executive emphasizes that technoogy helps the processes evolution. Currently, 60% of the dealer net stock is replaced automatically. Ever more, the connected truck and bus fleets contribute to preview the parts demand. “Information from operating vehicles help to define the distribution strategy and the parts to keep the net ready”, remarks Egídio.
