Fiat released the first image of the new generation of the Ducato, a brand’s commercial vehicle launch scheduled for the first semester of 2023. In the scarce information released, the manufacturer promises to offer more performance and productivity and new versions of the vehicle.

In the actual lineup, the transporter can find cargo van, cabin-chassis and passenger van options. As it happened in the launch of the Scudo line, an intermediate utility vehicle between the Fiorino and the Ducato, it would not be out of the question to speculate about an electric version.

Nonetheless, Ford has already announced a battery version of the Transit, a direct competitor, and Iveco probed at the Fenatran 2022 the possibility of launching the e-Daily.

Fiat still keeps secret about the new Ducato’s powertrain. The vehicle currently uses the 130 cv 2.3 Multijet engine with 32 kgfm at 1,800 rpm with a manual six-speed transmission. In Europe, in markets such as Portugal, it has the same engine but delivering 120, 140, 160 and 180 cv.

“The light commercials market has always been important for Fiat; therefore, we are investing increasingly more in this segment. This year we launched the Scudo, a medium-sized cargo van that meets the most diverse needs. We also inaugurated our electric utility vehicles lineup with the e-Scudo, which has the best range of the category]’, said in a note Herlander Zola, Fiat South America’s senior vice president. “In 2023, we will keep the focus on this segment, and the new Ducato will arrive to improve the category.”
