With the 100 thousand square meters of the São Paulo Expo fully occupied, the 15th Automec opening day received an attendance 60% higher than expected by RX, the event organizer. Eduardo Marchetti, the fair manager, said the number of visitors on Tuesday reached 15 thousand instead of the expected nine thousand.
The lack of live events in the last four years due to the Covid-19 pandemic is an important factor for the expected Automec’s success this year. “We had not yet reviewed the expected attendance numbers, but considering the great presence at the event opening, we believe it should surpass the initially previewed 80 thousand people”, he said.
The executive remembers that relationship is a key factor for the aftermarket, partly explaining the preference for live events. “The digital worked during the pandemic, but the public prefers live events”.
Traditionally, Automec’s first-day public is the weakest, increasing in the second, followed by stability and reaching a peak on Saturday.
Automec occupies the eight pavilions of the São Paulo Expo, gathering 1.5 thousand brands. RX says 60% of the visitors occupy leading positions and are able to make business. The expectation is to reach deals of about R$ 24 billion in the five days of the 2023 edition.
