The RAM Rampage sales should start in Brazil next August and shall not take long to be exported to neighboring markets. First brand’s product developed and launched out of the United States, the new pickup will be exported initially to Latin American countries.
Nonetheless, the first shipment isn’t yet confirmed, according to Everton Kudejac, RAM’s commercial director. “It will depend on our production capacity and the initial demand in Brazil”, he said.
Anyway, Argentinian and Chilean journalists were at the Rampage presentation on Monday, 6/19, in São Paulo, which indicates what countries will receive the vehicle initially. Stellantis asserts the Rampage was developed as “a perfect-size package for Brazil’s and all South America’s conditions”.
Marcio Tonani, Stellantis’s Engineering Technical Studies vice-president for South America, added that the project meets all Latin America safety legislations. Possible exportation to the United States would demand some changes and complementation, according to Tonani, small ones.
A compact RAM pickup will not be a novelty for some region countries’ consumers. For them, the Fiat Strada and Fiat Toro are already shipped with the North American brand’s logotype.
According to Stellantis, Rampage’s development cost R$ 1.3 billion from its R$ 16 billion investment cycle in Brazil, which started in 2018 and goes through 2025.
The project was supported by RAM’s design, marketing and engineering United States teams. The style was conceived by Stellantis’ South American Design Center in Betim, MG.
Marcio Tonani said the Rampage was born with about 70% national content and shares with the Toro only parts and components not perceived by the consumers. The executive emphasized that the new pickup structure is 86% made with high and ultra-high-strength steel.
The Rampage is 5,028 mm long, 1,886 mm wide, 1,780 high and has a 2.994 mm-long wheelbase and 264 mm ground clearance. It is 9 cm longer than the Fiat Toro. 4 cm wider, 3 cm higher, and the wheelbase is just 4 mm larger.
