The 2024 Ford Ranger sales opened on Thursday, 6/22. The pickup made in Argentina is being offered only with a 250 cv 3.0 V6 turbodiesel engine and a 10-speed automatic transmission. There are just two versions, XLT and Limited, costing R$ 290 thousand and R$ 320 thousand.

With an additional package including a 12.4-inch instrument cluster from the F-150, 20-inch light alloy wheels, adaptive cruise controls, blind spot monitor, lane keeping, cross traffic and evasive maneuvers assistance, the top-of-line version costs R$ 340 thousand.

In September, Ford will offer the Ranger also with a 170 cv 2.0 turbodiesel engine in three versions: XL 4×4 manual and XLS 4×2 and 4×4 with a six-speed transmission. These versions’ prices were not released yet.

The Ranger had better days in the Brazilian market and is currently the fifth bestseller in the segment, with 6.9 thousand deliveries from January through May. Nevertheless, it has been Ford’s bestseller in Brazil since the brand ended manufacturing in the country, becoming only an importer.

Currently, the pickup sells six in ten Ford vehicles in Brazil. In the first five months of 2023, the brand sold 10 thousand vehicles in the Brazilian market: nine thousand light commercials and one thousand automobiles.

In the past one of the “Big Four” in the Brazilian automotive industry together with Volkswagen, Fiat and General Motors, Ford currently detains only 1.3% of the market and the 12th place in sales.

These numbers are thanks to the brand’s light commercial vehicles, as Ford now sells fewer automobiles than GWM, 21st in the ranking, which sold 1.1 thousand vehicles in the period and will begin to produce in Brazil only next year.

BYD is also ahead of Ford in passenger cars, with more than 1.2 thousand registers.

The Chinese manufacturer should buy Ford’s plant in Camaçari, BA, where the American Brand made its last national car in 2021, finishing a more than one-century-old production in Brazil.
