The 30th Simea, Simpósio Internacional de Engenharia Automotiva, promoted by AEA, will happen on next 16 and 17 at the Novotel Center Norte, in São Paulo. The event’s theme will be “Brazil and the sustainable mobility future”, with discussions about manufacturers’ initiatives and local public policies.

According to Paulo Jorge Santo Antonio, AEA’s director of Heavy Vehicles Emissions and Consumption and 30th Simea’s coordinator, the difference this year will be the expansion of the debated beyond specific solutions for the Brazilian market.

“This year, we intend to demonstrate that Brazil needs and should prepare for sustainable mobility looking for smart solutions fit to its needs but also suitable for the global context. Therefore, we will try to address the future based on the vast platform of energy solutions available in the country, nonetheless without discarding electric technology”.

Most local manufacturers – including Toyota, Renault, Volkswagen and Stellantis – see the flex-fuel hybrid car as the best way for the Brazilian market towards electrification. It does not discard pure electric vehicle projects.

Stellantis, for example, which launched this week its Bio-Hybrid program, announced that it will manufacture an electric model 100% made in Brazil up to 2030. Among the larger manufacturers, only General Motors manifests against the flex hybrid option and intends to go straight to the pure electric here and globally.

60 technical jobs

In the two days of the event, the Simea will have two panels, three special lectures and a round table in the main hall, besides the presentation of 60 jobs in the four rooms reserved for technical sessions.

On the first day, Panel 1 will address the theme “Tendencies (scenario) and public policies”, with the participation of a Mining and Energy Ministry representative and the presidents of Anfavea, Márcio de Lima Leite, and Sindipeças, Claudio Sahad. On the second day, Panel 2 will discuss “The future of sustainable mobility” with three lectures and a final debate: “Technologic Trends in AEA’s vision” with Everton Lopes, vice president of the association, “RenovaBio and the Fuel of the Future”, by Marlon Arraes, Mining and Energy Ministry’s Biofuels Department director and “Urban Mobility in Brazil (Modal/Infrastructure) by Ciro Biderman, Getúlio Vargas Foundation professor.
