Fiat ended August on the lead of the automobile and light commercial vehicle market. The Stellantis’ brand sold close to 45.5 thousand units, 23.1% of the total registered in the period. It easily overcome General Motors (29.6 thousand and 15.1%) and Volkswagen (29 thousand and 14.7%).
It was the eighth consecutive month topping the ranking and, even with one trimester to go, the Italian brand practically ensured the position of 2023 Brazilian best seller. This should be the third consecutive year leading the internal market. In 2020, General Motors was the first, followed by Volkswagen and Fiat.
From January through August 2023, Fiat sold 296.7 thousand automobiles and light commercial vehicles, 22% of the market total. The advantage over the runner-up Volkswagen (with 210.1 thousand and 15.6%) is equivalent to three months of sales of the competitor, which overcomes GM (208.4 thousand) by a narrow 0.2% margin.
The 10 bestselling brands ranking year-to-date also include Toyota (123,5 thousand), Hyundai (111,9 thousand), Jeep (87,5 thousand), Renault (76,1 thousand), Honda (48,3 thousand), Nissan (44,8 thousand) and Peugeot (21,9 thousand).
It is also significant the presence of Jeep and Peugeot among the ten leading brands. As Fiat, they belong to Stellantis, wich also sells in the country imported and national Citroën and RAM models.
Adding up its five brands in the market, Stellantis sold 423.8 thousand vehicles year-to-date, 32.1% of the Brazilian market. In the same period last year it sold 402.5 thousand units, meaning a 5% growth in 2023.
